Orisha

An Orisha is a spirit or god in the belief system of Vodun (or Voodoo) as practiced by the Yoruba people and others in West Africa. They were brought into the New World along with slaves to Haiti, where they are known as loa. During rituals, worshippers are said to be possessed (or "ridden") by the orisha.

Orishas include Shango and Eshu.
