Calabi-Yau spaces

A Calabi-Yau manifold is a compact Kahler[?] manifold with a vanishing first Chern class[?], and consequently is Ricci flat. Calabi-Yau manifolds of (complex) dimension three appear in (Supersymmetric[?]) String theory compactifications to four dimensions.
